TJ Beitelman is the author of five books, most recently Communion, a forthcoming collection of short stories available for pre-order through Black Lawrence Press. His novel, John the Revelator, and two books of poetry, Americana and In Order to Form a More Perfect Union, are also available through Black Lawrence Press. His hybrid memoir, Self-Helpless: A Misfit’s Guide to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, is available through Outpost 19. Beitelman’s work has appeared in various journals and on-line venues, including Quarterly West, Indiana Review, Colorado Review, Bellevue Review, Third Coast, Copper Nickel, DIAGRAM, Verse Daily, and New Orleans Review, among other publications, and he’s received fellowships from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham. He’s taught writing and literature at Virginia Tech, the University of Alabama, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, where he now directs the Creative Writing department.
